Jase, Make sure it is a 36hp one though. The flange where it sits on the manifold have different offsets for the 40hp version. I have been told that the pulleys won't line up if you put a 36hp judson on a 40hp motor, so I am guessing it is the same the other way.
36ers should have the double pulley and no belt tensioner, and 40hp ones have the single pulley with a belt tensioner.

I think the main thing to watch for is cracked housings. I have seen quite a few over the years with cracked housings.
If the housings are OK, you can buy all the other bits for them, like the vanes, seals, bearings etc.

John
I had my patience tested…….It is negative.

The one Im currently looking at is is definately a 36er dual belt etc. Hard to tell about the casing though from pics. Hopefully the guy will be straight with me.

Well it was to be sent off last night all cool so I thought got this message just now. Guy was straight up with me that he hadnt pulled it down and told me that it spun freely but was untested.
Dunno what to do now mmmm.

"Jason:

checked the compressor prior to ship , and opened it ,
i have found that there is just the shaft , not the
rotor .

vanes are in a small bag , but i am afraid they will
have to be replaced either .....

i have bought a nos judson today and i am starting the
manufacture of hard to get parts like the vanes , the
glass container and the rotor/axis assy .

let me know if :

1) you will take the kit you bought as is
2) you want a full refund
3) you want the kit shipped as is and want to get a
set of repro parts later (a complete restoration will
need a new rotor axis and vanes anyway)

just trying to be 100% clear and straight ;)"

The price was pretty good I must admit its complete with Compressor luft cleaner dual belt pulley carb spacer Mystery oiler and bottle bracket, but no belts and hoses I was going to order new vanes any way but a rotor will be exy but then again I guess it'll be fully recoed then. Bugger me I dunno what do you guys reckon?
Cheers

I'd still grab it Jase, at the very least if you bought another kit you'll have plenty of spares :D

Yeah Ive chased up a new rotor and vanes bearings seals etc about 450 US all up. At least then its fully rebuilt and ready to run. Could've bought a more expensive one and still found that the rotor was beyond use. Spoken to George Folchi about it and quite often the rotors are too far gone any way so Ive gone ahead with it should be here soon lets hope.

Cheers
