Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance 09
I'm in L.A. for a few months so a road-trip up the coast this weekend to attend this show was a no-brainer. It's best described as the Canne Film Festival of the Automotive Calender.
The event has the best of the best cars shipped in from around the world. Only the most exotic cars get an invite and classes are judged with the best of class being the highest award a car can achieve. The best of show award is the Holy Grail of classic car awards.
There was also a display of concept cars from the major exotic car manufacturers.
Here is some of what we saw.
4 door Porsche- the family man sports car!
Merc- not sure about this one.
Bugatti- Beautiful!
Historical Porsche.
One of my girlfriends favorites-
A typical engine bay at the event- eat ya dinner off this!
The very first Ferrari to hit U.S. shores.
Land speed record motorbike- from back when men could wear speedos and call themselves heros.
Original paint 56 Carrera! - wet dream car!
1952 Le Mans winning Gullwing.
1949 Veritas BMW Spyder race car.
One of my favourites-
1937 Ferdinand Porsche Designed Car.

Looking California, feeling Minnesota.

Same here Ash!
There was also a classic car auction that ran for most of the weekend with plenty of cars going for 100K plus. It was out of control- it's obvious that there are still plenty of people out there with money to throw around.
I would have loved to have had my Ratty Single Cab to have dragged around the event for the weekend to upset a few people.

That would be the Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss, 650hp or something and about 750k euros, limited production of 75. Can't remember much more about it.axlepressbutton wrote:

The red car behind to the left is the Mantide, a custom car created by Stile Bertone and based on the Corvette ZR-1 chassis, priced at 2M USD with a maximum production of 10.
All of these pale in comparison to that Auto Union D racer though, god that is a sexy beast.
