Sydney VW Nationals 2011 chat...pics in show pics

Post by Pollywaffle »

I know it's probably a tad early to be asking, but who'll be attending this event?

It's at Fairfield Showgrounds on Smithfield Road, Prairiewood. 22nd May 2011.

I'm currently on the lookout for an oval to buy and I hope to enter it on the day. I know Azza will be trying to enter his 1500S there too.

For others entering the event we could do a bit of a convoy to the event or something? I've never actually been to this event and I'm not to sure what to expect in regards to quantity of cars. If it was anything like DOVW last year, I think it should be pretty sweet.

Here's some more details on fees etc. : http://www.clubvw.org.au/nationals2011/ ... /show.html

We have been a minority in the past (except in '09 when the melburg guys invaded) with with a LOT of nosebleed, resto kinda stuff happening but the last few years has seen an emergence of some cool cars attending..

Would be great to get a decent contingent of northern LUFT cars happening under the banner this time around.

Anyone coming up to support us from down sud this year :?:

I would imagine all of them being nosebleed cars. I'd really love to be part of a Luft invasion this year.

I forgot about that pic!

So glad it got saved out before the hard drive died. Come to think of it, it was L.J. who yanked the hard drive off the workbench.....maybe he thought he could destroy the evidence....it's all becoming clear!!! :o

That was the Ghia.

Not got any info off it yet. It couldn't be done with software, so the next step is to open it up. Only thing is they only get one shot at it, and then it's scrap.

Apparently I can decide whether I get them to have the shot (maybe a 50% chance of success) or they can send it to specialists in the US to do (maybe 75% chance). The difference is $1300 or $4300! Big difference! I just can't get over the fact that it's one chance and then it's all gone.

I'm a bit bummed out because my oval won't be ready until June which is just a couple of weeks after the event. That's assuming everything goes to plan too. Looks like I'll be heading in with AzzA if his car is all done.
