Mate has them in der fatherland as escort vehicles with sign boards on them, as well as runback cars for crane crews when cranes left on site, they cart them on counterweight trucks.... They have no dramas with them last time I was there....

Like this, they use 'Em when the big gear stays on site, watch the counterweight truck pull out after the crane

Thanks Warb, but I think jase may have meant it wasn't a caddy.... It's a frog version.
I thought I would find a gazillion pics online without turning my pc on, but no caddy's in sight
Here's another runback car hitching a ride and it ain't a freaking caddy either

Apparently, a regular problem with DSG models, there is a cooler above the DSG that lets go. It destroys the DSG, and will require a new one.
If the car is under warranty, its not a problem, but if you are forking out for it...it'l be expensive.

Scott on DSK just bought a new Caddy, and the 17" repro Fuchs bolt straight onto it. Looks good.
I had my patience tested…….It is negative.

It seems all of the Euro crane spotters are not so interested in taking pictures of the Schwertransport Begleitfahrzeug, or heavy load escorts and the big cranes get all the pictures....
And the company my buddy works for seem to have replaced some Caddy's with Wog and Frog versions...
Here's what I was talking about with the runback vehicles....

Here is some other Caddy's being used for the same thing

Here's an older Golf doing the piggy back

And then some cool looking Caddy's

I've driven a 1.6 petrol and it was pretty gutless, my t4 TDi goes better. I'd imagine the 1.9 TDi would be a better way to go.

Have a look here, some cool ideas http://vwcaddy.net/forums/index.phps=b9 ... d2&act=idx

We use the Caddys as company cars....all TDI and DSG
3 x maxi lifes with the seats removed to fit more stuff in and my Caddy life short wheel base. Yes I run 17" Fuchs with 225 tyres. I'll post the pics after the lowering kit is in. A bit embarrassed about the altitude at the moment but the fix is on the wasser from the Fatherland.

Old post, but I thought I'd add a reply :D I have a Caddy, I have since I bought it new in 2008. 1.9 TDI. Pretty reliable ( dual mass clutch problems excluded lol).
