Just a handy tip you may not know, early wide 5 drums work on late 4 stud backing plates ;)
Makes it a bit easier and cheaper than finding all early parts!
And there was something about the wheel cyls too from memory but can't recall what it was. Something like beetle front cyls are the same as type 3 rears? :? don't quote me, but if you can find what it was it can also save you $$$$

Good luck. Type 3 wide 5 drums are like hens teeth.

Do you have to use type 3 drums?

1500 beetle axles and brakes and type 3 drums are the go

Are you already running long axles?


Drums are available new, and not hard to find some 12v rear brake bits.
