Who's got an R36?

Post by augo »

Gday guys,

My Family wagon got written off so it's time for a new one.
I've got a bee in my bonnet for an r36 wagon..
Anyone on here got one?
Been doing a bit of research and it seems some models had a recall on the autos, and mechatronics playing up. Sounds pretty high tec to me and would definitely smash a huge hole in my wallet.

Bosses wife has one. Have driven it and its a slug....well, for what you pay. He's had a few dramas including something to do with auto, all under warranty so no dramas for him, but Id be worried if it was out of warranty.

"A slug" you're the first person I've heard call them slow!
Sounds like you had it in economy mode buddy!
Haven't driven one yet but sounds like they go alright. One of Vw's fastest production cars. (so they say)
Even under warranty it's usually a pain in the ass getting stuff fixed.

Hey mate. I have one and have had it for about 18 months. schwarz wagon. Loving having the car and yes, the DSG gives me the shits but it is a matter of how you drive it. Driving it in semi auto mode is terrific. Had the auto checked over at last service, no dramas but I reckon it is just the way they are. As for the mechatronics, have heard that it can be that sometimes. Fair bit of coin in the end but I love my volkswagens, the Germans know how to put a car together. Rides really well, smooth and quiet.

Had an R32 previously and now that was a great car too. Like a gocart and the exhaust note was insane. My 9yo always used to egg me on to redline in first, it was a blast, literally.

Check out the skoda wagon, looks the goods. From reviews, not bad either and quite a bit less than the R36.

Yeah my brothers got a Skoda, I don't hate it but doesn't excite me much either. I reckon resale in 5 years the Skoda would get nothing!

True, but it is 20k less too! The electric blau with chrome accessories looks good. How about an Audi S4 wagon, now we are talking!

Cool. Surprising how much you use heated seats in winter. No sweat with gng for a cruise, always up for that! Although, mine will be in the panel shop having some dents pulled from our last hail storm :? No probs after that!

By the way, if you want a tow bar, better off finding a car with one fitted as they are about $2k to fit......ouch!
