Sydney Volkswagen Showdown 2012

Post by Pollywaffle »

Wow, what a great day it was at WSID today. The weather was great in the morning but then very hot in the afternoon. The turnout was fantastic and it was fun to walk around and check out all the cars and their setups. It was a shame I had to leave so early but here's some photos from the event. It was great to catch up with Ollie and Ralph (EatSleepVW) too. I lost count at how many times I walked into their shots while filming

(I think I may have over-cooked these photos though :?)

[quote="dual77"]A few pics from today. Plenty of cars racing but not so many spectators, weather was beautiful though.

Cheers for the pics.
Must have been hard to let that Barny single go Bruce but looks like the new owner is definitely doing it justice. 8) 8)

Sold it to buy a clipper...

But sold the clipper now, too big and didnt use it enough, too much money sitting around...

But yeah Phil has done a great job, not sure i like the rims, but love what he's done...

Nice pics Ben, thanks for uploading so quickly. Gives me time to recover from sunburn. I'll get Ollie to put up some video. :)

Nice pics.
Was a good day, we hid down in front of the corporate boxes so the shade can across which was nice. Still got a little burnt.
This year I'll finish a project

Yeh well done to Nick (Ratty '56 bus) running some solid BWA worthy times.
But such a smooth, quiet and well planted bus on the strip :afro: 8)

Such a well engineered bus 8)

Was a great day. The other giirls have posted most of the cars I had shots of already. Dodd's panel Type 3 was a tow car, nice.

Image

This one was unbelieveable so clean - original 61. Interior headlining and carpet in A1 condition. Ran 11.07

And this one. Replica import but nicely set up and ran strong 13s all day.

Shitty iPhone footage in the pits.

Howdy y'all,

I figured most had probably seen the usual ones around, so I went for the more 'epic' shots etc.

If anyone owns these cars and wants hi-res, pm me!

Ollie

PollyWaffle - Nice pics, thanks for sharing :)

What is your instagram ID?

Clarkey - Some great stuff there! What are you using for HDR? PS or Photomatix style software?

Fark Ollie, yours turned out way better than mine. It was literally the first time I'd used PS though  I need more practice and not such a crappy polarised filter. It almost ruined every shot I took on the day.

Cheers PASHN8. I do have Instagram but I don't really use it though. I wouldn't bother following me  I just use it to follow others. Clarkey does though and has some good shit.
