first off i'd like to thank Spike and MGB for giving me advice and answering stupid questions.

anyway, ive been thinking about getting a newer car for a while as a daily and have the flash put on club reg, i was thinking golf...

this golf gti mk2 popped up on the luft and i pretty much jumped on it!
flew down on thursday at 6am, got the car at 8 and away we went.

had a slight problem with the battery (it shit itself) and it feels a bit funky in the steering but im sure a alignment and once over by the mechanic will soon sort it out. burns a bit of oil too.

plans are to find some cool wheels for it, got a bit excited last night and bought coilovers for it  and then add a few nice touches and drive the f@#k out of it!

heres a few shitty iphone photos of the trip

Welcome to the world of MK 2 GTI ownership (have owned two, still have one), enjoy its quirks and the little frustrations in getting parts and repairs done. They are fun to drive!

Glad the trip went well for you mate, as Ash said they are fun to drive, put it through a couple of corners at speed and you'll get what I mean! Congrats again Brad.

was that the auto? weiss paint with yellow spotty's? it was advertised on the KC.

i got KW ST Speedtech. they are exactly the same as KW Variant 1 but not stainless just galvannized which is good enough for me, considering its a 5 year warranty.

i cant wait to get the rego sorted and then fit them, and get better looking wheels. so keen for the progress..............

wow im driunk :blur:

I had 17 x 7s under mine with a 40 offset from memory and it was slammed!

No rubbing issues

It came down a little more after this pic
Had about 60mm under front spoiler

had a mate who is a mechanic and does inspections and etc. have a look at it today. found a few things that need fixing like the radiator isnt in its proper position. been pushed back a bit, which makes me suspicious of a minor accident. and its blowing a bit of bluey smoke when revved, which means rings.. and un-tidy wiring and random loose wires.

looks like this one missed out on some loving, so ive gotta give it what it deserves!

Lowered on some 16x8's would look killer! Well done!

Don't stress about the radiator mate, they're supposed to be set in on the angle as far as I know, mines like that too. The random and loose wires and the odd screw falling out is all part of the mk2 charm.

haha yeah im getting used to its charm, it feels like it wants to go harder but it just cant. a good tune up when i get the blau slip and i will be stoked.

f@#k i hate the rims on it though, might paint them schwarz

Dude... As mentioned, welcome to MK 2 ownership. Don't expect it to be like a new car because they are far from it. They are the mongrel of Golfs, bit of old bit of new and were released here when VW were really suffering at the time hence why we only got limited GTI's which were all detuned (mine is 2 Litre though) and Cabriolets. The wiring isn't great in them, they don't like wet weather (computers freak out a bit), once the luft con and heating is stuffed they are near impossible to fix (removing the dash to fix anything such as luft con, speedo cable etc is a nightmare). It's a typical old VW, they have their quirks, but are freakin fun to drive.
