Yep, very nice bit of kit:

Fair bit of work to get it right though, will be a weapon once done!

Whilst the barny SC (Grover) is waiting for parts, and Luke's CB is waiting for a gearbox, we've been slowly but surely chipping away at this 65 notchback. Owner Mark lives in the UK and works in Singapore but desperately wanted an Aussie notch, unfortunately this one turned out to be a lot worse than expected (as almost all of them are nowadays).

In hindsight, we should have found a better notch to start with as the labour has blown out a lot fixing all of the problems, but Mark was too far into it to turn back :)

Seriously Al you never cease to amaze me. So much has changed for you since those studies you were doing when you built the '63. All power to you. :salute: :salute:

Cheers squizy - yeah life takes some interesting turns :) 6 years at uni, a masters degree, published research in Audiology.....all to fix rust in old veedubs, couldn't be happier ;)

Luke's CB wheels and tyres arrived for the CB - we will have to do a 'wide body' modification to get these bad boys to fit. Luke always wanted to recreate a vw version of an old school group c touring car look from the early 80s...so this project will certainly be interesting and different to say the least!

Will have to get some more updates soon, but the Notch is registered and on the road finally. Will come down a fraction in height and a change of wheels before hand over to owner. Just thought I'd share one pic - owner flew over to cruise it around the Gold Coast (inc top of burleigh heads point as pictured):

A reminder of where it started:

And where it is today:

Cheers mate, the project started out as a quick tidy up and decent paint job...but changed throughout the course of the resto. The owner never wanted a show car so there were compromises in the detailing throughout the car to save some dollars so whilst we could have got a lot of areas a lot better with extra time/$, the owner is still happy with the result as he wants to drive it, not store it.

Notch is just about done - some more photos just before it ships out of DAS Resto Haus.

Back onto my dad's T34 pan finally after a long hiatus....
Klassic Fab pans finally going in after some trimming and lots of trial fitting

This tool we fab'ed up enables accurate cross checking of measurements (referenced from body bolt holes)
Image

Centre string line ensure bolt holes were equidistant from pan centre line
Image

Loooong butt welds to replicate the original pan finish (ie. no seams like a type I pan) but will be worthwhile in the end. More pics to come next week hopefully.

Butt and plug welds complete, now for lots of grinding (at least its only one side since I welded over the flange of the tunnel)
