Fuel Sender

I am chasing a fuel tank sender unit to suit my '66 beetle as the fuel guage isn't working. The guage has been tested and is working.

The beetle has been converted to 12V however I believe that shouldn't affect the sender. (Can someone let me know if this is incorrect.)
No matter what happens they can't take you out in the street and shoot you....
