bump .... some feedback?? Anyone?

Lets not end up like our Sydney counterparts
OMR_007 wrote:I think it is time to get a Vegas Lufter monthly meet happening.

Lets throw some ideas around, and it may take a little while to find a venue we are happy with,
but lets make the effort and get this happening.

It will be hard to find a central location, as a lot of us are from all over the place (Bayside, Mountain ranges nord and sud coasts)
and depending on what we want in a venue as well.

My suggestions are as follows (be that they are only suggestions):

Vroom cafe, Fortitude Valley - Main reason is it is super central and they also have a motoring background
which I think if we approached them, could be beneficial.
Open all hours so we don't have to do a certain morning/afternoon/night meet.

Harry's Diner, Windsor - Once again quite central and willing to support such events (lets avoid friday nights though).

Moving away from the typical Cafe theme, how bout a workshop of some kind?

There isn't really any I can think of that would be of interest to us and that is local, but here are some suggestions anyway:

DAS Resto Haus - Awsome workshop, great owner and heaps of cool shit to look at, but its a long trip for all Brissy folk.

Bob Romano Performace - This is a workshop that a fellow DSK uses at Morningside, I do know the owners from dealings with them in the past.
Not sure if the workshop opens on weekends?
It is a possibility though, so I can always go and discuss it?

Vegas Luft HQ - is 'under construction' and is located near the bayside (yeah we know Leroy will like this one), not as central as some would like I suppose?
It is set on acreage with ample parking away from the pulic, and guaranteed to have at least a handful of dub projects on the go at once.
There is a fridge on site and more than likely a coffee machine will be donated to the cause if it ends up being a morning event.

All have pluses and minuses so let me know what you are thinking.

I'm going to try and get some of the DSK locals involved too ....

Anywho .... through your ideas up here, lets work it out 8)

I'm happy to throw it out there and host the first get together, but as you say it is a bit of a hike to Burleigh Heads from vegas (takes about an hour from around Tarraginid/Holland Park if no traffic).

Cheers
Al

PS I'll be having a proper Open Haus day towards the end of the month or early next month as well. More details once I work out a date.

I voted for Gumdale, as I am a lazy SOB and its only 5 mins from home.

Romanos or DAS Resto Haus would be cool too.

After bug-in (easter) Vegas Luft HQ will be nearing completion!

We now have external walls, 2 roller doors (one electric), a sink with handwash and work benches and racks are on their way.

It looks like a disaster area at the moment while the oval is in full swing to get it ready.
Once we are back we'll have a massive clean out and tidy up and then the first meet will be locked in.

Not long now kids!

Is your splitty officially on the road yet?

PS. we may look at doing every second meet at an alternate location to mix it up a bit and give everyone the chance to have a shorter trip every now and then, like you coast dwellers for instance :D

Are you going to make the effort to come up Macca?
Most probably about a month away?

Also, the Cleveland show is on the 26th of April, lets try and get as many luft cooled rides there as possible.

There was talk of a rat invasion with El Concreto, the G, my '56 and '59 and if Leroy pulls his finger out maybe a trailer visit from his '56?

Maybe a couple of coast cars would be good? huh huh?

So who else is going to Cleveland this weekend? Neither of my beetles can make it, as they are both still in pieces - but I'll be there.

I'll be there with the pea, lips will be there in the oval, Leroy will be there in his bus, Patty in the '58 of course and another guy I met the other day might bring his 356 down as well ....

Haven't heard back from Leroy if Bob and Ash are coming though? :?

Make sure you keep an eye out for us
