On the lookout for a 1600 kombi IRS gearbox and Type 4 2 litre motor for The Thing..
Anything available in melburg area would be greatly appreciated..

Tony I got a 1600 kombi gearbox but condition unknown. Also have a 2ltr case and heads if you wanna build one instead.

Hoping not to have to build one from scratch at the moment, due to time restraints ...

Tony, if you find yourself a bay with the right running gear in it I may be interested in the rest of the van for panels, suspension and chassis jigs etc.
This might help open up the market a bit, also means you could test drive it before you buy

How about a complete Porsche 912 engine. Been sitting for 5 or 6 years in my garage though

It won't be a runner. I would say it will need at least pulling the top end off and replacing seals etc. Carbies will need to be checked too
It cost me $3k
It was going into the Ghia, then sold the car. Then thought of putting it into the RSK but backed off because of rego issues
